Susan Kare was the art director who developed much of imageryy used in the initial Macintosh launch (the geisha, the bomb icon etc.) She was also a Pirate… the Mac team hung the Jolly Roger in their lobby.
Captain Jack Sparrow would have loved this group.
The story here is that Kare was contacted by a new Apple employee who wanted a flag for his cube explaining that “he didn’t come to Apple to join the Navy.” Oh well, bad timing – that was Apple Computer…
Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for the Mac aficionado? There is a nice collection of her “fat bits” work available on her website.
